Water that behaves like water.

Explore Garnet Tech’s interactive water simulation — from open swell to the last thin sheet of swash on the sand. A proof of concept, running in your browser.

Environment automation

Explore a procedurally generated cove: terrain, weather, time of day and the small details that make a scene feel inhabited.

  • Seeded, repeatable worlds

The same seed always produces the same coastline, swell and scatter.

  • Art-directed where it counts

Hand-authored hero areas blend into procedural surroundings.

  • Scales to the device

A live quality ladder keeps phones smooth and lets desktops shine.

Compute where the wave lives

We spend simulation budget by a wave's life stage. Far water is cheap; the shoreline, where waves steepen, break and run up the beach, gets the most compute.

  1. Open oceanSpectral FFT swell that fades with distance.
  2. ShoalingWaves slow, shorten and bend with the seabed.
  3. BreakingCrests steepen and spill at about 0.78 × depth.
  4. SwashA shallow-water solver runs the surf up the sand and drains it back.

A small sunny cove with a curved sand beach between two rocky headlands. Swell rolls in from open water, slows and steepens over a sandbar, breaks into white foam and washes up the beach before draining back, leaving darker wet sand. Gulls circle overhead, crabs scuttle along the waterline and a storm builds on the horizon. When you reach the end of the page the camera lands on the beach and you can walk around and wade into the shallows.
